Introduction of MPX
MPX is a rare viral disease caused by the MPX virus. MPX virus is a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family. MPX is a zoonotic disease that is spread through close contact with an infected person or animal or material contaminated with the virus. MPX typically presents clinically as fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, and can lead to a range of medical complications. The symptoms of MPX are similar to those of smallpox. The pathogenicity of smallpox and monkeypox in humans is different. Smallpox is highly transmissible in humans with high mortality whereas monkeypox is less efficient in spreading and has low mortality. Generally, MPX does not require treatment.
